Center City Beit Midrash Tuesday Mornings, February 4-June 17 7 to 7:45am

Interested in exploring the foundational texts of the Jewish tradition? Then join with old friends and new for the inaugural season of the non-denominational Center City Beit Midrash!

Beginning February 4, all of Center City is invited to be part of an on-going Jewish learning community. Join us every Tuesday morning between 7–7:45 am for breakfast and traditional text study with chevruta (study partners,) led by rotating rabbis from a range of perspectives.

Each rabbi will select a text for a period of four to five weeks’ (five meetings) guided study. In this way, participants will be exposed to a variety of texts and ideas. Knowledge of Hebrew is recommended, but texts will be provided both in the original and in English translation.

Dates: The Beit Midrash will meet for 45 minutes every Tuesday morning at 7am between February 4–June 17. The first three rabbis (Rabbi Sue Levi Elwell, Rabbi Helen Plotkin, and Rabbi Ira Stone) will teach at BZBI, and the fourth, Rabbi Albert Gabbai, will teach at Mikveh Israel.

Cost: $36 (covering breakfast and teaching.)

Taste of Makom Family Friday Night Services

It has been wonderful getting to celebrate Shabbat with so many Makom families in our first couple months. We’ll continue to gather monthly this spring and summer to ring in Shabbat with joyous and musical services geared toward 3-6 year olds and their families where you get to dialogue as a family and meet other families, too. RSVPs appreciated, just click reply. If anyone in your family has special food needs, please let me know. I’m happy to make sure there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.

These meetings initially happened with support from a grant from Mechon Hadar, but we need your help to keep them happening! To donate, mail a check to Makom Community 1733 Christian Street 19146. We’ll have online donations set up soon, too. To RSVP or for more information, contact Beverly Socher-Lerner, Founding Director of Makom.beverly@socher-lerner.com
